Traveling is rough. When i say traveling, I do not mean airports and plane rides. I mean simply driving myself back and forth across the state of Pennsylvania. The people on the other sides of these drives are incredibly worth the trip – my mother, my dog, my boyfriend. One thing that I really began to notice this year, however, was the affect that sitting can have on my joints.

Now, this is a pretty obvious statement, but I am twenty-two years old. Everything seems to make my joints hurt. The causes range from impending bad weather, to standing too long in my classroom, to sitting down for more than twenty minutes at a time. I work to live a healthy lifestyle by exercising, stretching, and maintaining a natural diet, but joint pain is something I just cannot seem to shake.
Needless to say, a snowstorm is raging outside, and my hips are on fire. Time for yoga!
I am 26 years old, and have been dealing with shoulder and neck pain since I was 18 – there is no cause (they thought it was posture, but it’s good). Now they think it is stress, but I don’t think I’m that stressed in my day to day life. It has just become a part of me to be in pain and use heat or do stretches to make it through. Good luck, and hope you can get some relief!

About to do some bedtime yoga and try to avoid ibuprofen if I can

Avoid ibuprofen? Does it make it worse? I don’t stick to doing my stretches as much as I should – good work!

I completely understand. In fact, I was in such bad shape a few years ago that i gave up gluten. I haven’t looked back and it has been four years. Road trips are a lot easier (not easy though) since eradicating gluten. Might be worth a try,
Also, I take turmeric pills twice a day.
I sound more like I’m quadruple your age rather than just double it. 😂

That’s really interesting that glutton had such an effect on your muscles and joints that way.

Sorry for your pain. It is truly early onset at your age.
I know your pain. My joints ache a lot, I finally went to a specialist. He told me I had early onset when I was 64. I thought to myself, “how could that be considered “early onset at my age?”
Could it be the stage, rather than specific condition?

Oy! I have joint (hip) issues too, but I’m a fair bit older than you. The chiropractor has helped, and so has yoga. It’s so much worse after I sit in a car. I don’t even want to move! But move I must because that’s the only way the pin goes away. After a long drive the best thing for me is to get into a swimming pool and exercise my whole body. Hope you are feeling better today!
